Biography

Dr. Richard W. Cartun is internationally recognized for his contributions to immunohistochemistry and laboratory medicine.

He joined Hartford Hospital in 1978 and spent more than four decades helping build one of the nation's leading immunopathology and immunohistochemistry programs.

Dr. Cartun received his BS degree in Pathobiology from the University of Connecticut, a Master's degree in Health Care Management, and a PhD in Pathobiology.

At Hartford Hospital he served as Director of Histology, Director of the Martin M. Berman Immunopathology and Morphologic Proteomics Laboratories, Assistant Director of Anatomic Pathology, and Director of Biospecimen Collection Programs.

He has authored numerous publications and delivered presentations for national and international organizations including NSH, SFAI, AIMP, ASCP, and ISIMM.

Dr. Cartun is a founding member of the International Society for Immunohistochemistry and Molecular Morphology.
