Biography
Dr. Murat Gokden is a neuropathologist and a Professor in the Department of Pathology, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Little Rock, Arkansas. He has served as a faculty member since 2000.
Dr. Gokden graduated from Dokuz Eylul Medical School in Izmir, Turkey. He completed pathology residency and neuropathology fellowship training at Washington University in St. Louis, surgical pathology fellowship training at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and cytopathology fellowship training at UAMS.
Board certified in anatomic pathology, neuropathology, and cytopathology, Dr. Gokden focuses primarily on surgical neuropathology and brain tumors. His expertise also includes autopsy neuropathology, neurodegenerative diseases, muscle pathology, and nerve biopsies.
In addition to serving UAMS, he provides consultation services to Arkansas Children's Hospital, the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital, and pathologists throughout Arkansas and neighboring states.
Dr. Gokden is an active member of the American Association of Neuropathologists (AANP), United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP), and College of American Pathologists (CAP). He has authored numerous books, book chapters, and peer-reviewed publications and remains deeply involved in pathology education and training.
