Biography
Dr. Allen M. Gown is internationally recognized as one of the world's leading experts in the diagnostic and research applications of immunohistochemistry.
He received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed pathology residency and fellowship training at the University of Washington.
Dr. Gown rose to the rank of Professor of Pathology at the University of Washington where he built an NIH-funded research laboratory and developed one of the region's leading diagnostic immunohistochemistry laboratories.
In 1997, he founded PhenoPath Laboratories, which grew into an internationally respected diagnostic reference laboratory.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Gown developed numerous clinically important monoclonal antibodies, including HMB-45 and 34betaE12, and has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications.
He continues to teach, publish, and serve on editorial boards throughout the pathology community.
