Detects MDM2 gene amplification to aid in diagnosing well-differentiated, atypical lipomatous, and dedifferentiated liposarcomas. It helps distinguish these from benign lipomas and other non-lipomatous or mesenchymal tumors, which typically lack MDM2 amplification.

Bone Marrow Aspirate: Not applicable Peripheral Blood: Not applicable Fluids: Not applicable Paraffin Block: Submit paraffin block along with a corresponding H&E slide clearly circled and labeled for tech-only (required). Cut Slides: Provide one H&E slide (required) and four unstained slides cut at 4–5 microns. The H&E slide must be clearly circled and labeled for tech-only.

Storage and Transportation

Use cold pack for transport. Make sure cold pack is not indirect contact with specimen.
