IHC

HER 2 (EP3)

Identifies the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2/neu), a transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor involved in cell growth and differentiation. HER2 overexpression or gene amplification is observed in a subset of breast, gastric, and other carcinomas and is associated with aggressive tumor behavior and poor prognosis. Detection is useful for prognosis and for selecting patients eligible for HER2-targeted therapies.
