Dr. Saiz is the co-founder and President of Vitro. A native of Florida and former high- school valedictorian , Dr. Saiz graduated from University of Miami Medical School and completed a combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency training at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, where she also did a surgical pathology fellowship. Dr. Saiz then did another fellowship in Cytopathology at the internationally-acclaimed MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Saiz began her professional career at Northwest Hospital in Seattle, then worked as Director of Cytopathology at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami, FL prior to the founding of Vitro in 2006 with Dr. Yaziji. Dr. Saiz is an award-winning expert cytopathologist, with other areas of expertise including GYN Pathology and GI Pathology.
Dr. Saiz is a member of many professional organizations, including the College of American Pathologists, United States and Canadian Academy of Pathologists, American Society of Clinical Pathologists and Florida Society of Pathologists.

Dr. Yaziji is the founder and Medical Director of Vitro. An international expert, Dr. Yaziji is Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of British Columbia and an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center. He received his M. D. degree from the University of Damascus in 1989, and completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Louisville in 1996. Dr. Yaziji completed two fellowships, in Surgical Pathology and Breast Cancer Research, at the University of Washington in 1997 and 1998. He also completed a third fellowship in Cytopathology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in 1999. Dr. Yaziji is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology. He worked with Dr. Allen Gown at PhenoPath Laboratories from 1996 to 2004, where he was instrumental in the development of a profitable specialty pathology testing laboratory for immunohistochemistry and FISH, and subsequently served as the Director of Molecular Oncodiagnostics Laboratories at the Baptist Hospital of Miami from 2004 to 2006. Dr. Yaziji’s main research and clinical expertise is in the translational applications of immunohistochemistry, FISH and other ancillary pathology methods for diagnostic Anatomic Pathology. He has conducted numerous research studies, resulting in the publication of 47 peer-reviewed scientific articles on various topics including applied immunohistochemistry and HER-2 testing by FISH. He is a regular speaker at national and international pathology meetings. Dr. Yaziji believes passionately in the importance of point-of-care-pathology for providing high quality diagnostic results.
Dr. Yaziji serves on the Editorial Board of Advances in Anatomic Pathology and Applied Immunohistochemistry and Molecular Morphology, and is on Genentech’s Speakers’ Bureau. Dr. Yaziji is also a member of many professional organizations, including the College of American Pathologists, United States and Canadian Academy of Pathologists, American Society of Clinical Pathologists, International Society of Breast Pathology and Florida Society of Pathologists. He received several scientific awards, including Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Best Scientific Paper Presentation at the Southern Medical Association and “Pathologist of The Year” award at the Florida Society of Histotechnology. He is the author of a book entitled “FISH Testing in Clinical Pathology” by Springer (in press). Dr. Yaziji is married to Dr. Enma Saiz (the better pathologist in the family). He is an avid reader and enjoy losing tennis matches to his two children Sammy and Sofie Yaziji.

Dr. Barry is an international expert on hematopathology and molecular pathology. An MD, PhD graduate from Duke University, Dr. Barry did his pathology residency training at the University of Washington, followed by immunohistochemistry fellowship also at the UW, and a two-year hematopathology fellowship at the NCI with Dr. Eleine Jaffe. Prior to joining Vitro as Director of Hematopathology and Molecular Pathology, Dr. Barry most recently was the Medical Director of Clarient, Inc., and previously Director of Hematopathology at PhenoPath Laboratories. Dr. Barry contributes extensively to the field of hematopathology and immunohistochemistry, publishing widely in major journals, including the American Journal of Surgical Pathology (AJSP), American Journal of Clinical Pathology (AJCP), Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Modern Pathology, Blood, Leukemia Lymphoma, etc. Dr. Barry is invited to present regularly at national and international conferences.
 


Claudia Castro

Formerly the Chief Pathology Fellow at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Castro earned her medical degree from the University of San Carlos de Guatemala in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Dr. Castro completed a residency in Anatomic Pathology and a fellowship in Pulmonary Pathology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. After she continued her training at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas where she did a fellowship in Oncological Surgical Pathology, where she was awarded Chief Fellow. Dr. Castro is an expert consultant pathologist on neoplastic pathology. Dr. Castro is a member of the the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Castro extensively published in peer-reviewed pathology journals. In her free time, Dr. Castro spends most of her time horseback riding and surfing.

A Florida native, Dr. McCarty received a B.S. in Nutrition and Exercise Science from Florida State University, then earned his M.D. degree from Medical University of the Americas, Nevis, West Indies. Dr. McCarty then completed his residency training in Anatomic Pathology at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, LA, followed by two subspecialty fellowships, one in Cytopathology at Tulane University, and the second in GI Pathology at the world’s renown institution Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, where he was awarded the “Fellow of the Year” award.
Dr. McCarty is a member of many professional organizations, including the College of American Pathologists, American Society of Clinical Pathologists and Florida Society of Pathologists.

Dr. Aparna Rajadhyaksha is the Director of Molecular Genetics and Pharmacogenomics at Vitro Molecular Laboratories. She obtained her medical education at Patil Medical College, Mumbai University, India. Her residency in Clinical Pathology was completed at Tufts University, MA, followed by a fellowship in Medical Genetics at University of Miami. She is board certified in Clinical Pathology and Medical Genetics. Dr. Rajadhyaksha has clinical interests in Cancer Genetics, pharmacogenomics and Laboratory Informatics. She is also currently serving as a Spokesperson for the College of American Pathologists.
Dr. Rajadhyaksha is a member of many professional organizations, including the College of American Pathologists, American Society of Clinical Pathologists and American Society for Human Genetics.
